Amazon Robotics co-op and internship opportunities are offered in the Greater Boston Area at our two advanced facilities, located in Westborough, MA, and North Reading, MA. Both campuses provide unique access to robotics testing labs and manufacturing facilities.
This role is a 3-month internship from May to August 2024.
The Process Engineering Team focuses on continuous improvement in manufacturing by improving safety, delivery, quality, and cost. The team works hand-in-hand with other internal and external Amazon engineering departments to develop manufacturing solutions for new products.
Key Job Responsibilities:
The Process Engineer Intern would be responsible for the following:
- Executing manufacturing process optimization projects that might include data collection, time studies, root-cause analysis, problem-solving initiatives, and creating training modules.
- Creating business process models with best practice techniques and design documents for future solutions using gathered requirements.
- Gathering, analyzing, and documenting functional or technical requirements for new projects, enhancements to existing solutions, and reported production issues.
- Conducting research on production system issues, resolving user problems, and escalating when necessary.
- Holding periodic project update meetings and review sessions with cross-functional team members.
- Supporting supplier improvement initiatives.
- Documenting specific process and project activities that support content and knowledge management initiatives.
- Participating in Lean Initiatives like performance auditing and Kaizen Event sessions.
About the Team:
The Process Engineering Team works to continuously improve manufacturing methods focusing on safety, delivery, quality, and cost. The team collaborates with other Amazon engineering departments to develop new product manufacturing solutions.

Basic Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering or similar.
- Junior year or above in an Engineering program.
- Currently enrolled in college/university and have at least one semester/term left after finishing this internship.
- December 2024 graduation date or later.
- Available for a full-time internship from May to August 2024.
- Knowledgeable in different process innovation methodologies and their practical application.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Understanding of metrics, process capabilities, LEAN, and IE techniques.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD/2D layouts.
- Enthusiasm, idealism, creativity, and a results-oriented mindset.
- Ability to work collaboratively and without direct reporting authority; must be a team player.
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical and business staff.
- Excellent written, speaking, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in creating process models.
