The Opportunity

FICO is seeking an Application Security Engineer to join our growing Information Security Office. This is a full-time, regular position, and an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong web development skills or a keen interest in security to transition into the exciting field of application security.

What You’ll Contribute

  • Ensure software developed is secure by conducting application security/vulnerability assessments.
  • Understand business requirements and apply security at all stages of application development following secure-by-design principles.
  • Perform hands-on security testing of products and services to identify security defects and vulnerabilities proactively.
  • Conduct risk analysis of security defects and vulnerabilities to manage risk without any adverse impact on FICO and its customers.
  • Validate security controls in adherence to compliance policies and industry best practices.
  • Communicate business risk alongside security risk efficiently.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) within the Product Security team to lead improvement initiatives and mentor other team members.
  • Collaborate with developers to build/maintain security features and promote secure architectural, design, development, and implementation choices.
  • Provide guidance to security champions within development teams to efficiently delegate and manage security responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with engineers, consultants, and leadership to address security risks and provide mitigation recommendations within the SDLC.
  • Maintain a high level of personal integrity and professionally handle confidential matters while reflecting sound judgment in security matters.

What We’re Seeking

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related streams.
  • Hands-on experience as an application security engineer or software developer.
  • Experience in application security defect and vulnerability assessment.
  • Experience in static application code reviews and software composition analysis.
  • Experience in securing container images and web applications.
  • Good understanding of enterprise-level application architectures and secure development methodologies.
  • Knowledge of OWASP Top 10 and CWE Top 25 issues.
  • Experience in languages like Java, C/C++, C Sharp, Python, etc., is an advantage.
  • Understanding containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies and tools like JIRA, GitHub, Bitbucket, Confluence, etc.
