About the Opportunity
The College of Arts, Media and Design at Northeastern University is inviting applications for open-rank tenured or tenure-track positions at the Assistant, Associate and Full Professor levels in the design of Extended Reality (XR) experiences through Game Science and Design, AI, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and/or Robotics. These positions can be based at the Boston Campus or at Mills College at Northeastern University in Oakland, California. We are specifically interested in candidates who are qualified for joint appointments with the Khoury College of Computer Sciences.
We're looking for interdisciplinary candidates with international records of excellence in critically-engaged research and/or creative practice that contributes to the rapidly developing field of Extended Reality. This research should be grounded in disciplines such as artificial intelligence, embodied intelligence, game design, machine learning, robotics, and related fields.
Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will maintain a strong program of interdisciplinary research and collaboration, develop new curricula, mentor students at all levels, and participate in service and outreach on the Oakland campus.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a PhD degree or other terminal degree (such as an MFA) in Design, XR, Game Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, Robotics or a related field by the appointment start date.
Additional Information
The position will be at either Northeastern University’s Oakland or Boston campus, with the expectation for primary location in Oakland.
