Are you a seasoned open-source developer ready to make a significant impact in the pharmaceutical industry? We are looking for an experienced Associate Director, Specialist Open-Source Developer to join our Clinical Data and Insights team.

About the Role

As the Associate Director, you will be responsible for ensuring the high-quality, timely, and efficient development of open-source infrastructure for clinical programming and information management. You will lead a cross-functional team to improve processes, ensuring the strategic development of open-source tools compliant with GxP standards.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Innovate and maintain advanced tools to support clinical data and insights, pushing the boundaries of what's possible.
• Drive continuous improvement to elevate quality, efficiency, and effectiveness within the function.
• Showcase unparalleled programming expertise, staying ahead of best practices and emerging developments.
• Architect and implement the strategic use of open-source tools across AstraZeneca.
• Serve as a Subject Matter Expert in open-source development, championing initiatives across departments.
• Revolutionize operational methodologies to foster innovation and excellence.
• Act as an ambassador for AstraZeneca's commitment to innovation, excellence, and integrity.
• Ensure compliance with computer system validation for audit readiness.

Essential Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, IT, or related field.
• Hands-on experience developing open-source infrastructure for regulatory submissions.
• Advanced proficiency in Python, R, and SAS with a successful project portfolio.
• Experience in R package development, validation, and life cycle management.
• Knowledge and application of data structures aligned with CDISC standards.
• Exceptional understanding of compliance principles and computer system validation.
• Proven ability to drive strategic design and architecture of open-source technologies.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, representing the organization at internal and external events.
• Proactive mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement in regulatory compliance.

Desirable Requirements

• MS in biostatistics, bioinformatics, statistics, or related field.
• Proficiency in additional programming languages such as Java, Groovy, Spotfire, C/C++, VBA/VBS, .NET, etc.
• Experience mentoring and training team members in open-source technologies and compliance practices.
