About the Role

The Director, Real World Data (RWD) Strategy, will report directly to the Senior Director of the RWD Office. This pivotal role will drive our RWD strategy and collaborate closely with therapeutic area evidence strategy leads and cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive RWD acquisition and partnership strategy by synthesizing evidence requirements across BioPharma therapeutic areas and leading the long-term and cross-therapeutic area data strategy.
• Plan for RWD needs, considering timing, modality, granularity, and geographical coverage of data requirements.
• Evaluate external RWD sources and networks for fit-for-purpose RWD.
• Manage data licenses and vendor relations in partnership with Procurement and Finance.
• Work with RWD Engineer and RWD Technology & Governance Director on data quality validation.
• Build and drive systematic knowledge and organizational memory of RWD vendors and networks.
• Act as a liaison between BPM Evidence and other AZ teams utilizing RWD.
• Stay updated on developments in RWD, vendors, networks, external alliances, and related technology.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

• Business and/or medical science degree with industry experience.
• Expertise in RWD generation, delivery, and application in clinical practice.
• Extensive operational understanding of real-world evidence, including secondary data.
• Experience in healthcare or biopharma industry, preferably within BioPharma therapeutic areas.
• Proven alliance and project management expertise with a track record of successful strategic partnerships.
• Strong cross-functional mindset and curiosity in building and applying disease knowledge.
• Capacity to lead or engage in cross-functional working groups and teams.
• Experience engaging with and leveraging insights from external customers.

Desirable

• Experience working in a global organization and delivering global solutions.
• Experience with RWD in the European Union region.
• Ability to represent the company at external conferences and forums strategically.
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives.
