Global Remote Data Analyst Position at Catholic Relief Services

Job Summary
The Data Analyst at CRS is responsible for developing data products aligned with industry best practices. Working within cross-functional teams, the Data Analyst ensures the preparation of data, deployment of machine learning and geospatial algorithms, and provides technical assistance for data interpretation. This role is crucial for advancing data-informed decision-making within CRS.
Roles and Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain relationships with program and global sector teams to leverage advanced analytics approaches and enhance data utilization for improved program quality, impact, and reach.
- Develop and maintain data products for CRS’s program and sector teams, ensuring proper cataloging, accessibility, and appropriate usage.
- Lead data identification and preparation, provide technical assistance for new data sources, and maintain third-party data provider relationships.
- Offer technical support and capacity strengthening in data analysis, visualization, cleaning, and interpretation, deriving actionable insights from data analyses.
- Develop robust technical documentation for CRS’s data products, enabling replication, scaling, and adherence to best practices.
- Contribute to CRS’s knowledge management and learning agenda in data science, capturing, documenting, and sharing successes, best practices, and lessons learned.
- Advise on hardware and software requirements for impactful and cost-effective data analytics.

Basic Qualifications (BQs)
- Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, data science, or a related field
- Minimum of five years’ experience as a data analyst
- Proficiency in linear algebra, probability theory, and statistical inference
- Programming experience with Python or R
- Familiarity with databases and SQL
- Experience with machine learning algorithms
- Experience with geospatial data analyses
- Experience in creating forecasting algorithms
Required Languages
English; French and/or Spanish is a plus.
Travel
Must be willing and able to travel up to 35%.
