The Data Analyst will be a member of the Data Science team at OilX. The team focuses on using data science tools and algorithms for the collection, analysis, and modelling of OilX's core back-end data. The team's goals primarily involve time series forecasting, trade flow identification, earth observation algorithms, and optimization algorithms. The team coordinates its work using dual-track Agile (Scrum) methodologies. Our day-to-day work heavily relies on coordination and collaboration among team members and our tasks vary widely.

We are eager to bring onboard people who are self-motivated, keen to acquire new skills, and enjoy working on a variety of tasks.

You will spend most of your time working with data, putting your technical and analytical skills to good use.

Responsibilities

  • Report to the Head of Data Science and the Project Manager of the project you're working on.
  • Carry out the necessary data analysis tasks along with a clear and concise report of the findings.
  • Create dashboards for data analysis and visualization.
  • Participate in the development and debugging of production level code.
  • Progressively and quickly gain a deep understanding of a complex, large scale solution and the underlying business it serves through hands-on data work.

Requirements

  • Experience in data analysis with Python, particularly using Pandas, Matplotlib.
  • Experience in building dashboards, preferably using Plotly and Dash.
  • Experience in using relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL using SQLAlchemy.
  • A can-do attitude and attention to detail.

Desirable skills

  • Knowledge of the Shipping industry.
  • Knowledge of Commodity Trading.
  • Time Series analysis.
  • Time Series Modelling and Forecasting.
