Data Engineer Role

Foley is seeking an exceptional Data Engineer with experience in ETL/ELT Tools and Processes, General Database Development, Data Warehousing, Data Delivery Automation and Testing, and foundational engineering patterns and practices.

This remote role is open to candidates residing in CT, MA, SC, GA, FL, TX.

What You Will Do

Initially, you will:

  • Learn how Foley’s products and services work.
  • Meet teammates and stakeholders in the engineering organization.
  • Understand development and deployment processes, procedures, and tools.
  • Attend scrum events to comprehend our technology and team dynamics.
  • Get up to speed on the value of our data products, understanding customer needs.

Subsequently, you will:

  • Maintain and evolve existing data pipelines using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
  • Implement transformation logic in AWS Redshift data warehouse.
  • Work with views and stored procedures to stage data from source systems.
  • Design, build, test, and deploy solutions to connect to various data sources.
  • Build data extraction solutions using automation technologies.
  • Critically assess current technologies and processes, providing improvement recommendations.
  • Help establish and grow data governance policies and practices.
  • Foster a culture of safety, collaboration, and inquisitiveness.

What We’d Like You to Have

  • A strong understanding of fundamental engineering concepts.
  • Experience in Scrum or Agile development.
  • Strong analytical and diagnostic skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A desire for continual improvement and an appetite for change.
  • Strong documentation, organizational, and planning skills.
  • Extensive experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server development and version control systems.
  • Knowledge of cloud native technologies and patterns.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools and products.
  • Diverse knowledge of database products and concepts, including SQL and Redshift.
  • Experience with Python, C#, or other programming languages.
  • Experience working with web services/APIs for data extraction.
  • Experience with non-SSIS ETL/ELT tools (Airbyte, Fivetran).
