Job Description As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing robust and scalable data warehousing solutions. You will be tasked with creating data solutions in response to business requirements. This may involve retrieval, transformation, storage, and delivery of data. You must follow standards, implement best practices in coding, and provide production support for the enterprise data warehouse. We're looking for a skillful data wrangler who enjoys constructing data solutions from scratch and improving their performance. This full-time position reports to the Manager of Data Engineering and can be done remotely from any U.S. state where Balsam Brands operates, including: CA, CO, FL, GA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, MD, MA, MO, NJ, NC, OH, OR, PA, TN, TX, VA, and WA. Alternatively, this role can be performed locally in our offices in Redwood City, CA or Boise, ID. Our local teams operate under a hybrid model, comprising Tuesday and Wednesday in-office. To ensure sufficient cooperation with global functional and cross-functional team members, some flexibility with your regular working schedule will be necessary. Most of our teams have early morning and/or early evening hours, Pacific Standard Time(PST). Specific scheduling needs for this role will be discussed during the initial interview. Job Duties: - Devising and maintaining the organization's data infrastructure - Collaborating with system analysts and cross-functional partners to understand data requirements - Overseeing the data warehouse, establishing denormalized data foundation layer and normalized data marts - Developing strategies to capture all data sources and how business process changes may impact that data - Handling all facets of the data warehouse/BI environment, including architecture, design, development, automation, caching, and performance tuning - Regularly investigating new technologies like Big Data, Artificial Intelligence, Generative AI, Machine Learning, and Predictive Data Modeling Qualifications: - 5+ years of professional experience in the data engineering field - Proven experience in designing and building schemas, tables, views, and data pipelines - Familiarity with cloud technologies like Azure, AWS - Experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF) or a similar ETL tool - Knowledge of working with SQL and relational databases like SQL Server, Oracle, Postgres, and MySQL - Understanding the narrative inherent in data and conveying it to non-technical audiences from a variety of business functions - Strong knowledge of coding standards, best practices, and data governance About Us: Balsam Brands is an international eCommerce retailer with a foundation in holiday and home décor.
