Role Overview
We're seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join our expanding team. You'll work intimately with our clients to execute the accurate data strategy by creating production-quality ETL pipelines, data lake design, data governance, and constructing reports and dashboards. This entails deeply understanding the clients’ objectives and the insights they're seeking, to incorporate these needs into your system design and execution. Your role will also involve conveying pertinent concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, and working on architecting and delivering solutions to problems. Our ideal team member will possess the expected mathematical and statistical expertise, coupled with a naturally curious and innovative mind.
Key Responsibilities
- Navigate the client on their data journey by thoroughly understanding the GCP data product offerings and ecosystem.
- Develop Data Ingest and ETL integrations and code to ensure the ETL process performs optimally across streaming and batch modes (e.g. Apache Beam)
- Create efficient and modular SQL to enable optimal querying of complex questions
- Design, build, and deliver visualization capabilities such as reporting and dashboarding using ready-made systems as well as custom developed metrics visualization (e.g. with Looker)
- Architect, create and manage the technological infrastructure of a data platform
- Identify business needs and objectives; generate ideas for data innovation to meet clients’ business objectives; enable business leaders to perform exploratory analytics
Key Criteria
- Effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Self motivation/manage your own tasks and projects to a mutually agreed roadmap
- Prior experience as a data engineer or in similar roles working with big data pipelines
- Solid experience with Data Warehousing (e.g. BigQuery) and Transactional DBs (such as Spanner, AlloyDB, MySQL, Postgres, etc.)
- Solid experience with visualization, reporting, and analytics tools such as Looker and Tableau
- Knowledge of other big data tools such as Hadoop, Flink, etc. is a plus
- Proficiency in SQL or similar data manipulation syntaxes for relational databases
- Technical expertise in a relevant programming language (e.g. SQL, python, R, java)
