The Data Engineering team at Abarca handles all incoming and outgoing data, including the data warehouse, with meticulous attention to detail and security. The team is responsible for analyzing data warehousing needs, designing pipelines, and developing, testing, and deploying EDI solutions.
As a Data Engineer, you will design and implement enterprise-level data solutions that serve a dynamic community of internal and external clients. Collaborating with product owners, software engineers, quality assurance teams, and technology leaders, you provide design guidelines that offer technical solutions and support complex decision-making.
You will contribute to the transformation of our EDI and Data Warehouse by designing and developing new solutions using cloud-native technology.
Core responsibilities for the role include:
- Providing technical coaching, guidance, and support in developing and deploying complex backend processes and APIs.
- Collaborating with Software Engineers and end users to understand and address business and client requirements through optimal software/technology solutions.
- Defining product requirements and creating high-level architectural specifications, ensuring feasibility, functionality, and integration with existing systems and services.
- Leading the development and documentation of best practices, processes, and methodologies.
- Developing scalable designs that support loosely-coupled enterprise components and fosters software reuse.
- Making high-level design choices and instructing on technical standards, including software coding, tools, and platforms.
- Developing and defining frameworks for new applications.
- Leading data engineers from existing to future software architectures.
- Cultivating and disseminating knowledge of application development best practices, also contributing to cross-departmental projects when necessary.
What we expect of you
The bold requirements…
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Equivalent relevant experience may also be considered.
- 3+ years work experience as a Programmer, Technical or Systems Analyst, focusing on Programming, Relational Database Programming, or Relational Database Administration.
- Experience working with Microsoft’s .NET Framework, Java, Angular, Object-Oriented languages, and Design Patterns.
- Experience with any major database (MS SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, Postgres, etc.), Database Design, Database Optimization.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Flexibility for a hybrid work model that requires certain on-site workdays (Puerto Rico Location Only)
Advantageous:
- Microsoft Certified Application or Professional Developer.
- Experience with X12, NCPDP, and/or EDI standards.
Physical requirements:
- Ability to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
- Primarily sedentary work involving sitting/standing.
