About the Data Governance Team

The Governance team collaborates with the Product Management and Data Tech Engineering divisions of Disney Entertainment, as well as with legal, privacy, information security teams, other business units within The Walt Disney Company, and industry groups. Our goal is to ensure consistent, trustworthy data by creating strategies and developing solutions that maintain data integrity, security, and compliance with internal and legal standards.

Job Summary

The Data Governance Engineer will be a crucial member of the Data Governance Privacy and Compliance team. Our mission is to ensure data compliance with privacy and security regulations throughout our ecosystem. This role demands an acute attention to detail, a strong sense of accountability, collaboration, and an understanding of large-scale cloud data platform infrastructures.

In this position, you will engage with analytics, data architecture, engineering, legal, and security partners to build scalable solutions that address complex privacy-related challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build privacy solutions to support consumer privacy rights processes managed by Data Governance.
  • Monitor existing processes for operational errors and resolve issues as they arise.
  • Respond to legal inquiries regarding consumer data.
  • Assist in maintaining data protection solutions.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • 3+ years of enterprise experience with data and platforms such as Provisioning/Data Capture, Big Data, Data Warehousing, and Business Intelligence.
  • Understanding of consent management concepts and tools.
  • Experience with regulatory compliance frameworks (GDPR, CCPA, HIPPA, SOX, etc.).
  • Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable solving problems in an ambiguous, constantly changing environment.
  • Ability to think logically, communicate clearly, and be well organized.
  • Experience with technologies such as OneTrust, Databricks, Jupyter, Snowflake, Redshift, Airflow, DynamoDB, REDIS, Kubernetes, Kinesis, REST APIs, SQL, Python, Scala, and other software languages.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum two years of experience in the technology industry; knowledge of data and product is a plus.
  • Knowledge of agile SDLC methodologies.

Educational Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

Compensation

The hiring range for this position in New York is $107,400.00 - $143,900.00 per year, and in Los Angeles is $102,500 - $137,500 per year. The base pay actually offered will consider internal equity, geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be part of the compensation package, along with a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position and level offered.
