About the Role

We are building an expert team to design and generate value-added products from Earth observations, drawn from Muon’s low Earth orbit satellite constellation and other geospatial datasets. We seek a Data Product Developer to develop algorithms and final processing stages for data from our spacecraft’s multispectral imaging instruments. This role involves close interaction with both instrument engineering and ground data systems teams to ensure the highest possible science data quality with the lowest latencies, supporting Muon’s climate change monitoring goals.

Location: This position can be based in Mountain View, CA, or remote.

Responsibilities

• Develop state-of-the-art data products from remote sensing observations
• Support the algorithmic and software development of data processing pipelines
• Collaborate with scientists and data teams to continually refine data products
• Learn new topics as required, such as measurement techniques and data platforms/tools

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience with data from remote sensing instruments
• Experience in developing geolocated and registered imagery data from satellite Earth observations
• Proficiency in geospatial data products and common geospatial data formats (HDF5, NITF, COG)
• Exceptional skills in Python-based development and analysis
• Ability to work within a distributed, interdisciplinary team

Preferred Qualifications

• Understanding of the theoretical design principles of scientific instruments
• Familiarity with cloud-native systems (AWS preferred)
• Background in common machine learning techniques/platforms (TF, PyTorch, etc.)

Salary

The salary range for this role is $95K-$195K, depending on skills, qualifications, and experience as evaluated during the interview process.
