We are seeking a Data Scientist (Computer Vision and Remote Sensing) who has the leadership experience to lead our development roadmap, manage our team of junior developers, and spearhead the implementation of new features based on client feedback. The position is with Earthlab Luxembourg (https://www.earthlab.lu/).
Earthlab is an innovative company specializing in earth observation and artificial intelligence. Our proprietary Max-ICS allows for seamless data processing and continuous AI model training.
For this position, we will only consider candidates who currently have a European nationality.
Responsibilities:
- Remote Sensing Data Analysis: Utilize remote sensing data from satellites and other sources to perform comprehensive analysis, including image preprocessing, feature extraction, and image classification.
- Computer Vision Modeling: Develop and apply computer vision models for object detection, image segmentation, and pattern recognition to derive meaningful information from remote sensing imagery.
- Machine Learning: Create and implement machine learning algorithms and models to predict and analyze environmental trends, changes, and anomalies.
- Data Preprocessing: Clean, preprocess, and enhance raw remote sensing data to ensure data quality, consistency, and suitability for analysis.
- Model Evaluation: Thoroughly validate and evaluate models' performance, fine-tuning them for optimal results.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including the AI Product Manager, Machine Learning Engineer, and frontend developers, to integrate data-driven solutions into Earthlab's products and services.
- Documentation and Reporting: Document research findings, methodologies, and code, and prepare reports and presentations to effectively communicate results and insights.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Computer Science, Remote Sensing, Data Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience in remote sensing data analysis, computer vision, and machine learning, including hands-on experience with relevant tools and libraries.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and expertise in machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
- Familiarity with geospatial data formats, GIS tools, and remote sensing platforms.
- Strong problem-solving skills, creativity, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively convey complex technical concepts.
- Industry knowledge is an asset.
- Fluency in both English and French.
