Join our Parametric Reinsurance department in Hannover from the earliest possible date on a permanent basis as a Data Scientist / Meteorologist / Geophysicist for Parametric Insurance.
Your Responsibilities
Here's what you can look forward to:
- Developing risk and rating models for weather, climate, and geophysical risks.
- Optimizing tools to increase process automation and efficiency.
- Innovating new coverage concepts for primary and reinsurance.
- Assessing parametric products with a focus on weather, climate, and geophysical risks.
- Enhancing access to weather and climate data.
- Analyzing, modeling, and rating existing contracts and new business opportunities worldwide in close collaboration with underwriting teams.
- Creating automation opportunities in the underwriting process and claims settlement, collaborating closely with the global Data Science community.
- Conducting internal and external training on parametric insurance solutions and services.
- Participating in projects relating to product development and market expansion.
Your Qualifications
Here's what you bring:
- Degree in Meteorology, Geophysics, Hydrology, or related fields with knowledge of stochastic processes.
- Initial experience in data analysis, ideally in risk assessment of natural hazards or parametric insurance through internships or student work.
- Proficiency in handling geospatial data.
- Knowledge of various data science methods.
- Proficiency in a high-level programming language, particularly R and Python.
- Fluency in English at negotiation level (C1-C2); German language skills and other foreign languages are an advantage.
- Willingness to travel worldwide occasionally, about two to four times a year.
