Department: Data, Analytics & AI, Enabling Units IT

About the Role: Director IT Data, Analytics & AI

We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and innovative leader to join our pioneering team as the EUIT Data, Analytics & AI Lead. This senior, strategic role is accountable for the delivery of DA&AI solutions across Enabling Units business areas.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategy Development: Develop a comprehensive strategy for Data, Analytics, and AI (DA&AI) to support Enabling Units' activities, including driving the Data Mesh strategy.
• Agile Delivery: Ensure timely, budget-conscious, quality delivery of DA&AI solutions using our standard platforms.
• Service Excellence: Deliver DA&AI services with a focus on automation, reuse, and standardization.
• Budget Management: Manage budgets, staff, and contracts efficiently, driving cost savings and planning for future needs.
• Team Empowerment: Enable data domain DevOps teams to work efficiently by removing obstacles and aligning resources.
• Collaboration and Optimization: Ensure coordinated efforts across DA&AI for maximum impact and strategic alignment.
• Stakeholder Relationships: Build strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure solutions meet strategic goals.
• Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest DA&AI technologies and methods to maintain AstraZeneca’s leadership position.
• Team Management: Lead and support your team, focusing on their wellbeing, performance, and professional growth.
• Enterprise Integration: Align EUIT strategies with AstraZeneca's broader Enterprise Data & AI strategy.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Informatics, or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience in delivering Data & AI solutions at scale in complex settings.
• Experience leading engineering teams, developing talent, and fostering a collaborative environment.
• Proficiency in agile delivery methodologies.

Desirable

• Advanced degrees (Master’s or PhD) in relevant fields.
• Experience with business areas such as Finance, HR, Legal, etc.
• Managerial experience in matrix and other structures.

Skills and Capabilities

Essential

• Strategic thinking and the ability to shape long-term DA&AI strategies.
• Knowledge of key data technology platforms including AWS, Azure, Talend, DBT, Snowflake, Microstrategy, and PowerBI.
• Good understanding of AI technology platforms like AWS SageMaker/Bedrock, Dataiku, and KubeFlow.
• Excellence in managing complex stakeholder networks.
• People leadership skills to motivate and develop teams.

Desirable

• Commercial awareness and understanding of the DA&AI technology market.
• Initiative, strong customer orientation, and cross-cultural working experience.
