Job Opening: Engineer, EGSE and Pre-Functional Testing

Location: MDA Space, Montreal Office

Join our satellite systems team, part of a global leader in antennas, payloads, and electronics for communication and radar satellites. Contributing to hundreds of satellite missions over the past 60 years, our Satellite Systems team continues to innovate both on the ground and in space.

About the Role

We are looking for a motivated and talented EGSE and Pre-Functional Test Engineer to join our Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue office. You will be key in developing test solutions and supporting the testing of satellite electronics units.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop effective pre-functional test strategies for satellite electronics.
  • Work with design teams to enhance pre-functional test coverage (DFT and DFM).
  • Support pre-functional testing of satellite electronics units.
  • Specialize in Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) for test equipment.
  • Design and support the manufacturing/programming of pre-functional test equipment.
  • Produce design documentation including electrical diagrams, assembly drawings, and bills of materials.
  • Perform analysis and write test procedures.
  • Support the procurement, manufacturing, and validation of pre-functional test equipment.

Experience and Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in pre-functional test strategy design.
  • Printed circuit board (PCB) design skills.
  • Ability to analyze electronic schematics.
  • Independence and teamwork skills, with strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Capability to work in a laboratory environment.

Preferred Assets

  • Knowledge of IEEE 1149 (JTAG) Boundary Scan standard for pre-functional testing.
  • Familiarity with Testway test coverage optimization software.
  • Experience with Flying Probes pre-functional test technology.
  • Programming skills in Python or VBA.
  • Knowledge of microcomputers (Raspberry Pi / Arduino).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and Visio.
  • Experience with burn-in systems.
  • Bilingual (French / English) is an asset.

Comments/Special Considerations

Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and ITAR.
