Position Overview: Algorithm Technical Lead

SciTec has an immediate opening for a talented Algorithm Technical Lead. This role focuses on Image and Digital Signal Processing, State Estimation, and Classification for the exploitation of data from ground-based, airborne, and space-based remote sensing systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical guidance in alignment with program milestones.
  • Communicate with Business Leadership, Program Management, and customer stakeholders to establish and assess program objectives and risks, and to create Agile program plans.
  • Research new data processing algorithms and techniques for remote sensor data exploitation.
  • Develop proof-of-concept tools using MATLAB, Python, and C++.
  • Characterize the quality and performance of algorithms and sensor systems.
  • Develop software supporting Signal and Image Processing, State Estimation, and Classification in Python and C++.
  • Mentorship and development of the technical staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience with Python, MATLAB, or C++ in academic or professional settings.
  • 3+ years of experience in designing technical software applications using Agile processes.
  • 5+ years of experience with state estimation, signal processing, or statistics.
  • Proven ability to lead teams in delivering technical software applications.
  • Identifies technical risks and proposes risk reduction strategies to meet program objectives.
  • Experience in developing Agile plans for technical projects.
  • Strong ability to build team relationships and mentor staff.
  • Effective communication skills with Business Leadership, Program Management, and customer stakeholders.
  • Experience in defense community technology for data exploitation is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in physical sciences, mathematics, engineering, or computer science.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET DoD security clearance.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in physical sciences, mathematics, engineering, or computer science.
  • Experience with Electro-Optical/Infrared (EO/IR), Multi-/Hyperspectral Imagery (MSI/HSI), Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), or Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) data.
  • Advanced experience with machine learning, image processing, and filtering algorithms for data extraction and classification.
  • Current DoD security clearance.

The pay range for this position is $130,000 - $201,000 per year. SciTec considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to role responsibilities, candidates' work experience, education/training, and key skills. Note that this is not a guarantee of compensation.
