About the Job

We have an exciting opportunity for an accomplished quantitative, machine learning specialist and software developer to join our FinTech team in Deloitte Financial Services Advisory, based in Johannesburg. We are looking for a motivated, innovative individual to contribute to our challenging, state-of-the-art machine learning and global software development projects. The successful candidate should possess a strong quantitative background with a specific focus on machine learning, alongside software development experience.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Developing machine learning systems to maximize efficiency and insights in the market
• Implementing and fine tuning the appropriate machine learning algorithms based on diverse requirements
• Designing and developing quantitative engines and algorithms that enhance prospective software applications
• Identifying areas for improvement and modification in existing applications and assisting in their development
• Developing training material on machine learning
• Writing and implementing efficient code
• Working in collaboration with other developers, UX designers, business and systems analysts

Qualifications

About You

Relevant Skills and Experience:

• 3-5 years of experience in quantitative modelling in one or more of the following areas: credit risk, market risk, financial models or statistical models
• Intermediate to advanced ability in researching and implementing machine learning algorithms and systems
• Intermediate to advanced level of coding experience in Python, C# is mandatory
• Familiarity with machine learning frameworks (keras) and libraries (sci-kit learn)
• Understanding of data structures, data modeling and software architecture
• Experience in using Git
• Skills in object-oriented programming
• Experience in working with cloud environments is beneficial
• Experience in working with containerized environments such as Kubernetes, Docker, etc. is beneficial
• Minimum of 3 years of banking experience in industry or as a consultant
• Experience in collaborating with others

Qualification:

• Minimum requirement: Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Engineering (Software, Financial, etc.), Mathematics, Statistics or Physics
• A Master’s Degree in any of the above-mentioned disciplines would be advantageous
• Any technology-related certifications would be a plus, for instance, Cloud certification
