The Impact You’ll Have

You will be an essential part of Gretel's go-to-market team. As the Head of Field Engineering, you will collaborate with sales and pre-sales resources to ensure customers realize long-term value from Gretel's products. You will work closely with account executives, applied science, product, and engineering teams to address complex data challenges faced by our customers. Additionally, you will lead the design, build, and technical implementation of Gretel's solutions, tailor solutions from pilot projects to long-term contracts, and hire a geographically distributed team of field ML engineers.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support customers through pilot implementations, ensuring the successful deployment of tailored solutions.
• Align cloud infrastructure, data pipeline, and ML requirements with account executives and customers.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive product roadmap, feature development, and go-to-market strategies.
• Be the voice of the customer, proactively identifying product opportunities based on emerging customer needs.
• Hire, mentor, and manage a team of field ML engineers, providing guidance and support.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related field (PhD preferred).
• Strong technical expertise in data engineering, cloud infrastructure, ML, and deployment with enterprise-scale solutions experience.
• Proven leadership experience managing technical teams and delivering complex solutions.
• Ability to effectively engage with enterprise customers, understanding and addressing their technical challenges.
• Excellent communication skills to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
• Proficiency in Python, utilizing Colab or Jupyter notebooks, and working with open-source libraries.
• Experience deploying ML solutions using containers and related tools (Kubernetes, Helm, Kubecutl) on AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Willingness to travel occasionally (up to 20%) for customer meetings, conferences, and industry events.

Compensation and Benefits

Your compensation at Gretel will be based on interview performance, experience, skill specialization, and market rates. During the offer discussion, your recruiter will cover base salary, commission/bonus (for applicable roles), benefits, perks, and stock options. For U.S. and Canada hires, the estimated annual salary range for this role is $220,000 - $250,000 USD, plus variable incentives. Salary ranges are updated regularly with premium market data.
