Role Overview: Lead Data Engineer

As the Lead Data Engineer, you will be instrumental in delivering Star’s strategic data initiatives. Your expertise will guide the development of a consistent, high-quality internal product to enhance our data and search capabilities, impacting thousands of users globally. This hands-on role involves direct contributions to our codebase, leading code reviews, and advancing our technical data solutions with emerging technologies like ElasticSearch and Graph databases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop solutions that empower the master data platform to operate at an enterprise level.
  • Design and build scalable, fault-tolerant data products aligned with our Data Strategy.
  • Contribute to and maintain our codebase while mentoring fellow engineers.
  • Re-engineer and optimize platform architecture as needed.
  • Lead explorations into new technology tools to enhance data processing and platform capabilities.
  • Ensure robust security, performance monitoring, and efficiency of the data platform.
  • Active participation in Agile processes and technical debt management.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Minimum 5 years of data engineering experience, including a leadership role.
  • Expertise in SQL and programming languages such as Python.
  • Proven ability in data quality, governance, and security methodologies.
  • Experience with search technologies and cloud-based systems, preferably Azure.
  • Background in data modeling, warehousing, and ETL processes.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills within Agile and DevOps environments.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Cloud certifications (Azure, AWS, GPC).
  • Experience with Snowflake cloud data warehouse and financial services implementations.
  • Knowledge of data governance tools and data migration project experience.
