Role Overview: Lead Data Scientist

Experience Required: 8 to 11 years
As a Lead Data Scientist at K MART Australia, you are expected to design and lead the development and deployment of solutions that utilize data sciences & advanced analytics to drive incremental value in retail. You will manage multiple use cases simultaneously, analyze and model structured data using advanced statistical methods, implement necessary algorithms and software, and continually enhance our ML capabilities by staying updated with industry trends.

Technical Skills Required:

• Advanced understanding of statistics with at least 8 years of hands-on experience in data science
• Experience in multiple linear regression, logistic regression, clustering, random forests, forecasting, and mathematical optimization
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, ML algorithms, and utilizing cloud solutions (AWS, Azure, etc.) for deploying projects
• Ability to synthesize findings through effective storytelling and visualization tools such as Power BI

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Engage in exploratory data analyses, design ML experiments, and conduct statistical testing
• Design and scale up data science solutions effectively
• Work within scrum teams using Agile tools like JIRA
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to explain complex concepts to non-technical users
• Prior experience in retail or e-commerce is advantageous
• Capability to mentor or lead small teams (2-4 team members)
