Work Environment

Within the Volkswagen Group Innovation department, our AI & Data Analytics sub-department focuses on the methodology and concept development of digital services for all Volkswagen brands. This includes processing and analyzing vehicle data as well as integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into digitized vehicles. The primary focus of this position is image processing for autonomous driving using multi-modal input data such as image data and LiDAR data. By leveraging AI, we solve perception and scene understanding tasks for autonomous driving. We provide you with an opportunity to engage in a team dedicated to researching and developing intelligent algorithms to shape the future of mobility.

Possible Responsibilities of This Role

  • Working on the development and implementation of deep learning architectures for environment perception in autonomous driving
  • Gaining experience as a Deep Learning Researcher/Scientist while working on highly relevant topics in the automotive industry
  • If pursuing a master thesis: defining the tasks and research questions in collaboration with your academic supervisor

Qualification Requirements

  • Students studying Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related fields
  • Excellent to good academic performance
  • Proficient programming skills in Python and Deep Learning libraries (e.g., PyTorch or TensorFlow)
  • Strong analytical and conceptual abilities
  • Practical experience in algorithm development
  • Theoretical understanding and practical experience in Deep Learning (especially Computer Vision) is a plus
  • Teamwork skills and a willingness to learn
  • Ability to independently and responsibly handle scientific topics
  • Proficiency in German and/or English at a C1 level
