Job Opportunity: Principal Data Engineer

We are seeking a qualified Principal Data Engineer who will be responsible for the maintenance, improvement, cleaning, and manipulation of data in our business's operational and analytics databases. You will collaborate with software engineers, data analytics teams, data scientists, and data warehouse engineers to implement database requirements, analyze performance, and troubleshoot issues. As an expert in database development, you will support Data and Analytics in database design, data flow, and analysis activities. You will play a pivotal role in developing and deploying innovative big data platforms for advanced analytics and data processing, defining and building data pipelines to enable faster, data-informed decision-making.

Key Duties:

• Work across multiple data centers and AWS regions to create data tools for analytics, build, and optimize big data pipelines and architectures.
• Perform root cause analysis on internal/external data and processes.
• Draft regular performance and progress reports and prepare engaging presentations for senior data engineering management and data science leadership.
• Analyze large and complex data sets using Microsoft Excel functions, macros, and pivot tables.
• Create and debug databases, build and maintain physical and logical data models, and manage systems including disaster recovery, backup, automated testing, and schema migration.

Requirements:

• Research, design, develop, and/or modify enterprise-wide systems and application software.
• Resolve complex hardware/software compatibility issues and interface design considerations.
• Conduct complex investigations and tests.
• Explore emerging technologies to determine their impact on application execution.
• Provide input to staff for writing and updating technical documentation.
• Troubleshoot complex problems and support ETL processes.
• Develop queries, process large data sets, and perform data quality checks and assurance.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Excellent organizational, coordination, interpersonal, and team-building skills.
• Proficient in network operating systems: Windows, Linux, Distributed Computing, Blade Centers, and cloud infrastructure.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to comprehend database methodologies.
• Security Clearance: Secret
• Education: Master’s degree with 7 to 10 years of related software engineering and/or military experience.
• Certification: Sec+

Physical Requirements:
