About Your Role

As a Principal Data Engineer at Cars Commerce, you will play a critical leadership role, driving the growth of our platform by enhancing its capability to serve customers effectively. This position involves leading sophisticated data projects, crafting scalable data solutions, and innovating with advanced data techniques in AWS. Your expertise will guide the architectural decisions and strategic initiatives that bolster our business operations and technical advancements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Devise and implement technical plans aligning with the strategic vision.
• Construct and optimize data solutions from proofs of concept to full-scale customer-facing services.
• Lead the design and standardization of new data architectures.
• Facilitate robust documentation and transparent communication across technical teams.
• Conduct research and development on contemporary data handling tools and methodologies.
• Mentor and upskill team members to foster a culture of excellence and accountability in data management.

What We Require:

• Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a closely related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• A minimum of 12 years of technical experience with strong hands-on skills in data modeling, ETL pipeline construction, and real-time complex applications.
• Proficiency in Python, Scala, and cloud technologies, especially AWS (incl. RedShift, API-Gateway, S3, MSK).
• In-depth knowledge of Spark, along with experience in building and managing CI/CD pipelines.
• Exceptional communication and collaborative abilities to work effectively across diverse teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Expertise in developing Spark streaming jobs and managing Kafka systems.
• Experience with Google Analytics and designing operational metrics.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver projects successfully and manage multiple priorities with various stakeholders.
