Role Description

Matterworks is on the lookout for a Principal Data Engineer with hands-on experience in supporting AI workloads. Join our interdisciplinary team and work directly with scientists, machine learning researchers, fellow software engineers, and product team members to create cutting-edge solutions.

• Contribute to the overall technical direction and software architecture.
• Mentor and develop team members, building a high-performing team.

About You

• 8+ years of professional experience in developing data pipelines.
• Industry experience in life sciences, biotechnology, biochemistry, or a related field.
• Proficiency in agile development with a proven ability to deliver value iteratively.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to balance priorities effectively.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams.
• A passion for contributing to an early-stage startup where autonomy, eagerness to learn, and enthusiasm for solving scientific challenges are valued.
