Your Role and Impact

As a Principal Data Engineer, you will be a pivotal member of our team, tasked with coaching and leading both peers and newcomers. Your expertise will support various departments including Data Science, Analytics, Product, Marketing, and Sales, making you a highly valued asset across the company.

Your core responsibilities will include:

• Maintaining and optimizing data ingestion, transformation, and extraction pipelines on platforms like Big Data, Azure Databricks, and Airflow.
• Providing technical guidance and training to new team members on Optus frameworks and technologies.
• Designing and maintaining data pipelines and assets that meet end-user requirements while adhering to architectural and engineering principles.
• Engaging in data wrangling, profiling, and analysis to identify valuable data insights.
• Coordinating with various teams to ensure timely and accurate delivery of data-driven processes and services.

Required Skills and Experience

We're looking for a candidate who possesses:

• A strong background in Maths, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field, with extensive experience in Data Engineering and Data Warehousing.
• Proficiency with Azure Platform and tools such as Databricks, ADO, ADLS2, ADF, Cosmos, and SQL Server.
• Experience in migrating and tuning data assets and pipelines from on-premises to cloud platforms.
• Capability to build automated end-to-end data pipelines using either on-premises or cloud-based data platforms.
• Solid experience in data profiling, ETL development, SQL optimization, and project implementation.
• Leadership skills with the ability to manage a diverse team across different geographic locations and time zones.
• Exceptional communication skills and a knack for prioritization and detail, supported by effective business partner management.
