Position Overview
The Senior Data Analyst at Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) plays a crucial role in transforming data into insights that drive decision-making and improve student outcomes. Responsibilities include collecting, analyzing, and reporting data concerning school programs and policies, and providing support in data handling and interpretation.
Minimum Requirements
To join our team, you should have:
- Deep knowledge of statistical software (SAS, Stata, R, or similar) and Microsoft Office, especially advanced Excel functions.
- Experience in handling large and complex datasets and conducting both descriptive and inferential analysis.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple projects efficiently.
- Strong communication skills to articulate data-driven insights effectively.
- Proven ability to establish robust working relationships across various levels, from school staff to external stakeholders.
- A bachelor’s degree in educational research, computer science, social sciences, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- At least two years of relevant professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Ideal candidates would also have:
- A master’s or doctoral degree in a relevant field.
- More than three years of experience in data analysis using statistical software like SAS, Stata, R, or SPSS.
- Expertise in qualitative research and familiarity with NC accountability and data systems.
- Skills in developing web-based tools for data collection and analysis.
Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Data Analyst, you will:
- Perform advanced data analysis to derive actionable insights on staff and student outcomes.
- Manage data cleaning, preparation, and documentation processes.
- Respond to data inquiries from internal and external parties while ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
- Develop and disseminate data reports, charts, and graphs to support decision-making processes.
- Lead training and development sessions on data tools and evaluation methods for continuous improvement.
Working Environment
This role is based in a professional office setting in Cary, NC, and involves light physical activities and standard office equipment usage. The role requires occasional in-person engagement with various stakeholders.
