Job Description

As a Senior Data Governance Consultant for our Govern by Design (GbD) practice, you'll work with clients in both public and private sectors. Collaborating with various teams across our company, you'll support strategy, implementation, and oversight of enterprise data governance initiatives. Your role will require subject matter expertise in education and engagement efforts, including data literacy and curriculum/program development. You'll need a balance of technical skills and business acumen to forge strong cross-functional relationships.

Main Responsibilities:

• Identify governance and policy needs, risks, and solutions.
• Lead Data Maturity and/or Data Literacy Assessments.
• Produce presentations/deliverables for various audiences, including C-suite executives.
• Measure the effectiveness of governance initiatives.
• Implement governance frameworks.
• Create client-specific documentation.
• Navigate different tools and technologies to address governance needs.
• Develop and maintain document management strategies for projects and clients.
• Work with key stakeholders to understand and identify data processes, needs, and requirements.
• Capture and report on KPI/Metrics to demonstrate value to clients.
• Provide ongoing support in Data Governance to clients and colleagues.
• Participate in weekly standups, planning, and operational meetings.
• Engage with prospective and current clients as well as sales teams.
• Communicate data governance concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ensure clear communication and understanding of data-related business requirements.
• Offer subject matter expert support in Data Governance, including controls and ongoing monitoring.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Master’s Degree in a relevant field OR Bachelor’s Degree with 5+ years of experience in complex data or tech engagements.
• Expertise in enterprise data management, data governance, and data literacy principles.
• Experience in cross-functional collaboration and establishing metrics/KPIs.
• Proven ability to work across varied project sizes, including complex, multi-unit projects.
• Knowledge of current security, privacy, risk frameworks, and technologies.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task and maintain composure under pressure.
• Self-motivated, results-oriented with adaptability to changing environments.
• Experience with Data Catalog and Metadata Management technologies.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred:

• Certifications in data management, governance, and information management (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK, EDM Council DCAM/CDMC, CIMP).
• Certifications in risk, privacy, and security (e.g., IAPP, CRMP, CISA, CRISC, CISM, CMMI).
• Knowledge of laws and regulations impacting banking or health/biotech/pharma (e.g., HIPAA, FCRA, GDPR).
• Consulting or client engagement experience.
• Experience with Data Quality, AI/ML, and Data Science technologies.
