Job Description What's the role? As a Senior Data Scientist in Risk & Fraud, you will play a crucial role in devising a data-informed strategy to prevent, detect, and minimize risk on Etsy. This role involves collaboration with partners across our product and operational teams to identify and implement strategies to reduce Etsy's risk while ensuring a positive experience for our buyers and sellers. You will be responsible for developing success metrics, measuring success through experimentation and offline analyses, and generating insights that clarify new opportunities to achieve our goals. This is a full-time position that reports to the Manager, Trust & Safety Analytics, with a base salary range of 130,000 - 168,000 USD per year. In addition to the salary, you will be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy. This role requires your presence in Etsy’s Brooklyn office either in-person or in a flexible capacity. Day-to-day responsibilities include: - Collaborate with leaders in Risk & Fraud product, engineering, and operations to shape our strategy and vision. - Analyze buyers’ and sellers’ behavior to better understand how to design safe experiences. - Design and analyze experiments, assist teams in setting hypotheses, and deliver robust analysis of results. - Improve or automate internal analytics processes to enhance efficiency. Qualifications You should have: - 4+ years of experience as a data scientist or data analyst with insights extracted from large data sets. Experience in Risk & Fraud, particularly in e-commerce, is a plus. - Mastery of SQL and proficiency in R/Python, and experience with Looker, Spark, or other data visualization software. - Experience in A/B testing and statistical analysis of experimental data. - Ability to translate business problems into measurable metrics. - Ability to communicate insights to a variety of technical and non-technical stakeholders.
