Scientific Systems Company Inc. is seeking a Controls and Autonomy Research Engineer to join the Intelligent Control Systems team, focusing on autonomous guidance, navigation, and control for various aerial and space vehicles. Our focus includes the development of AI/ML capabilities to command, control, connect with, and manage a diverse mix of intelligent agents, smart sensors, and autonomous platforms across all domains. *Eligibility for DoD Security Clearance is required for this position* Responsibilities: - Incorporate advanced autonomy, AI/ML, GNC, and optimization algorithms into intricate high-fidelity simulations and hardware systems, and conduct and document performance reviews. - Support hardware-in-the-loop and experimental testing of complex GNC algorithms. - Collaborate within a team or lead a task to complete technical tasks. - Contribute to technical content for reports, presentations, and proposals. Requirements Minimum Required Skills/Experience: - Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Computer Engineering, or related fields. - Proficient programming skills (2+ years, proficiency in MATLAB and C++/Python/Java). - Experience with complex dynamic simulation software or real-time control software, applicable to advanced GNC for autonomous vehicles. - A strong team player and outstanding collaborator. - Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Desirable Skills/Experience: - MS +10 or PhD +5 years of experience - Research focus in multi-vehicle autonomy in one or more UxV domains (ground, water surface, underwater, aerial, and space vehicles). - Advanced programming skills (4+ years with research software). - Experience leading research programs (thesis/dissertation/funded programs). - Experience with hardware integration and testing for autonomous vehicles. - Familiarity with Machine Learning techniques as applied to autonomous control systems design.
