Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Senior Wetland Scientist / Environmental Permitting Specialist to join our Rocky Hill, CT office to learn and work with a team of talented environmental professionals and apply their academic knowledge in the environmental field. The successful candidate will have the ability to work independently on selected projects, as well as part of a collaborative team on various larger projects. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects. The role may also include field team management, project management, data analysis, and report writing.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Conducting botanical surveys for state- and federal-listed plant species, jurisdictional wetland delineations in CT and New England States
  • Habitat/plant community assessment and related natural resources field work.
  • Permit support
  • Applying scientific principles, theories, practices, and existing technologies to develop technical solutions to a wide range of complex problems
  • Interpreting and recording data, conducting analyses, comparing findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance
  • Solving problems by using combinations of standard procedures, modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments
  • Participating in planning required to achieve prescribed objectives
  • Conducting analysis and investigation work obtained from a variety of sources
  • Performing inspections and tests to ensure compliance
  • Participating in developing corrective measures and procedures
  • Formulating hypothesis, conducting research and making recommendations

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree in botany, environmental science, soil science, wetland science or related field plus 4 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Valid Driver’s License and must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with GPS and GIS a bonus
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with program and project managers, clients, and other disciplines within AECOM
  • Must be organized and detail-oriented
  • Excellent technical writing skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office is a must

Additional Information

  • Relocation/Per Diem is not available for this position
  • Certification as a Certified Soil Scientist/Professional Wetland Scientist highly desirable
  • Because of the nature of the work, there is no sponsorship available for this position
  • The position can be based in any of several New England offices in CT, MA, and RI

The offered rate of compensation in (Connecticut location only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $80,000 - $145,000.
