Job Title: Senior/Expert Applied Research Scientist (f/m/d) - Foundation Models on Linked Business Data

Your Role

At SAP, we integrate cutting-edge AI technology with extensive industry-specific data and deep process knowledge to craft innovative AI capabilities across our products and services. Our mission is to adapt Foundation Models with SAP data for more efficient business processes. This involves:

• Establishing and managing research collaborations with academic and commercial partners.
• Contributing to technical advances in developing our Foundation Models, including hands-on coding.
• Supporting academic research by providing Business AI related problem statements, frameworks, and data sets.
• Keeping abreast of the latest research and integrating these insights with internal work.
• Translating project innovations into research publications and contributing to thought leadership in Foundation Models and Generative AI.

Qualifications

We are seeking candidates with:

• A PhD or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related discipline.
• Extensive experience with Foundation Models and Machine Learning with Graphs (e.g., GNNs).
• Proven knowledge of collaborating between industrial and academic research.
• A strong publication record in LLMs, Foundation Models, or Knowledge Graphs, and a well-established network in these fields.
• Proficiency in Python and experience with ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow (optional experience with Neo4j, TypeDB, PyG).
• Professional experience in Machine Learning with structured data in ERP or CRM domains.
• Exemplary leadership, a strategic mindset, and superior organizational abilities.
