Job Description The primary role is to develop the artificial intelligence (AI) strategy employed by Standard Bank Group (SBG) and manage the development of AI and machine learning (ML) solutions and projects; specifically prioritizing new AI initiatives. This role requires comprehensive domain expertise that guides the AI strategy and empowers SBG to be both a business and thought leader in its target markets. Qualifications A Master's Degree in Information Technology Doctorate in Information Technology Experience Required 8 - 10 years experience in the AI and ML sector. Use relevant data to drive decision-making within the team. Understanding of cloud technologies and software engineering skills to tailor cutting edge ML Models (e.g., Deep Learning Models) to meet a user's needs specific to SBG. Strong written and verbal communication to help stakeholders navigate through complex areas, supporting the team in fulfilling the AI and ML needs of stakeholders. Technical knowledge and experience in the following, to address AI and ML solution needs - ML Concepts; Software Engineering Discipline (e.g., Source Control, CI/CD); major ML frameworks (Tensorflow, PyTorch, scikit-learn); Big Data Processing Libraries (e.g., Spark, Dask); structured and unstructured data; building end-to-end solutions on Cloud (AWS, Azure); working with and fine-tuning pre-built AI Services in Cloud; Data Visualization software (Qlik, Power BI, Tableau, etc.). Confirm and certify the work of other AI and ML Specialists, and train or guide junior team members in achieving AI and ML outputs or requirements. Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify new AI initiatives, perform rapid EDA or prototyping exercises that assist in sizing projects and high-level success criteria, effectively meeting the project ushering needs of the role. Partner with internal clients to shape new AI projects in alignment with identified client needs. Collaborate with SMEs from SBG suppliers to obtain optimum value from suppliers, ensuring effective communication with and influence on external stakeholders. Draft internal position papers on particular AI subjects, undertake technical benchmarks on AI solutions, and host masterclasses on AI concepts for internal AI communities, fulfilling the advisory and consulting needs of the role.
