Role Responsibilities

As the Sr. Autonomy Engineer for Planning, you will:

  • Develop advanced path planning software for scenarios such as obstacle avoidance and emergency landing.
  • Conduct ride quality and handling qualities analysis for autopilot features.
  • Perform simulations and real-world testing to validate algorithms' effectiveness.
  • Create comprehensive documentation of planning algorithms, methodologies, and processes.
  • Collaborate with the PMO organization to implement build plans.
  • Travel domestically and internationally up to 10%.
  • Execute other duties as assigned.

What You Bring

We are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Experience in planning and reacting approaches such as optimization-based methods, search techniques, artificial potential fields, and probabilistic roadmaps.
  • Minimum of five years of engineering experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proactive in delivering communication and follow-up.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete tasks independently within time constraints.

Additional Preferred Skills

Additionally, these skills will enhance your contribution:

  • Proficiency in Python and/or C++.
  • Familiarity with autonomy algorithms used in Sense and Avoid and Autonomous Taxi/Takeoff and Landing.
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, and testing.

Compensation: Base pay for this role ranges from $180,100 to $218,300 USD, with eligibility for a bonus as part of the total compensation package.
