Opportunity Overview:

We are seeking a creative, technically skilled Staff Data Scientist passionate about solving complex problems in logistics and fulfillment. At Flexport, you'll be at the forefront of building cutting-edge automated decision-making processes that enhance fulfillment reliability and efficiency while optimizing costs. By integrating operations research (OR) and machine learning (ML) with our dynamic team, you will transform data into actionable insights and streamline our 'port-to-porch' logistics solutions.

What You Will Do:

• Develop and refine models and algorithms improving inventory management and delivery reliability within our fulfillment networks.
• Lead projects that align closely with business objectives, translating complex needs into clear, actionable plans and seeing them through to successful execution.
• Collaborate across teams—including Data Science, Engineering, Product, and Operations—to implement solutions that meet key performance indicators.
• Effectively communicate your insights and proposals to stakeholders at all levels, ensuring alignment and actionable outcomes.
• Provide mentorship to junior data scientists and offer expert guidance within the organization.

Who You Are:

You should have a Masters or Ph.D. in Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Econometrics, or a related field, combined with at least 7 years of experience in optimization or machine learning. You are adept at managing full-cycle data science projects from modeling to deployment and are proficient in Python and SQL. Experience with Snowflake, dbt, and data visualization tools like Looker is a plus. Salary and Benefits:

The salary range for this position is $201,330—$223,700 USD, dependent on location and experience. Flexport offers a competitive benefits package, including bonus potential and equity options.
