Job Summary:

Position: As a Utility Data Analyst at Norfolk Southern, you will leverage your expertise in data extraction, analysis, and management to optimize our energy procurement and utility services. Your analytical skills will be central to driving enhancements in energy efficiency and operational strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Management:

  • Extract and validate data from diverse systems including utility billing, procurement, and waste management databases.
  • Analyze patterns and trends to provide insights that drive cost reduction and resource conservation.
  • Continuously audit and refine data accuracy and integrity.

Strategic Analysis and Intervention:

  • Benchmark performance metrics against industry standards to steer energy management strategies.
  • Identify irregularities in data that could impact financial planning and operational efficiency.
  • Develop recommendations to assist in strategic decision-making across departments.

Reporting and Communication:

  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations summarizing research findings and analysis.
  • Effectively communicate statistical insights and actionable recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Process Optimization:

  • Seek opportunities for process improvements and advocate for the adoption of new technologies to enhance data processing and analysis.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Statistics, Business Analytics, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Comprehensive experience in data analysis, including proficiency in tools like Spotfire, Tableau, and Power BI.
  • Outstanding problem-solving abilities and communication skills, with a proven history of delivering impactful insights.
  • Experience with utility systems and processes is a plus.
  • Ability to thrive both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
