About the Role

As a Principal Research Data Scientist at Coalition, you will play a key role in measuring, understanding, and optimizing the usage of data for our cyber insurance products. By leveraging advanced analytics, experimentation, and modern statistical techniques, you will enhance our cyber risk selection, pricing, and automation, thereby ensuring safe and efficient revenue growth.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional projects using quantitative analysis and advanced data modeling to guide strategic operational decisions and uncover optimization opportunities.
  • Analyze large-scale data to create risk signals for insurance pricing and risk selection.
  • Design and deliver robust data models, reporting systems, data automation systems, dashboards, and performance metrics to support key product decisions.
  • Synthesize disparate data sources into a cohesive narrative to inform stakeholders.
  • Mentor and train junior employees on data methodologies and best practices.
  • Promote a culture of data excellence through mature empathy, best practices, and process improvements.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in analytical, data science, or consulting roles.
  • Strong understanding of experimental design and statistical methods.
  • Experience working with data in tools such as Python and R.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex topics to non-technical audiences.
  • Passion, drive, and a deep sense of responsibility to build systems that keep us and our customers safe.

Bonus Points

  • Experience with cybersecurity data.
  • Exposure to causal inference and other advanced statistical methods to measure the impact of initiatives.
