Opportunity: Lead Machine Learning Operations Engineer

FM Global is actively searching for a Lead Machine Learning Engineer to spearhead Machine Learning initiatives within our AI/ML team. This role centers around collaborating with Data Science, Data Engineering, Solution Architecture teams, and Subject Matter Experts to enhance and build a sophisticated Azure AI/ML Ops environment.

As a pivotal member of our team, you'll embark on developing AI/ML-based applications that significantly impact our clients, managing complete lifecycle of ML development—from data ingestion and model experimentation to training, deployment, and continuous monitoring.

Core Responsibilities

Leadership: Drive data pipeline architecture, transition data science models from prototype to production, resolve production issues, and oversee operational monitoring while provisioning necessary Azure infrastructure.

Collaboration: Forge strong partnerships with data scientists to understand and implement data requirements, aiding in the seamless transition of data science model prototypes into production. Mentor and provide training to junior team members.

Continuous Improvement: Constantly enhance our code deployment processes, model monitoring frameworks, and documentation of project operations.

Technical Competency: Design and maintain the necessary cloud infrastructure to support various teams, ensure high-quality code is developed with extensive test coverage, and lead code reviews to uplift the code quality within the team.

Passion for Technology: Keep up-to-date with the latest in MLOps, LLMOps, machine learning, and AI. Disseminate fresh insights and technologies throughout the team to maintain our industry-leading position.

Technologies and Tools

Our current toolkit includes Python, PySpark, SQL, R Studio, Databricks, Azure ADO, Azure AI/ML Data Factory, various Azure services (Virtual Machines, Azure Web Apps, Cloud Storage, Azure ML), Anaconda packages, Git, GitHub, GitHub Actions, Terraform, Artifactory, Airflow, Docker, Kubernetes, Linux/Windows VMs, Dynatrace, and Slack for monitoring and alerting.

Qualifications Required

Prospective candidates should have a minimum of 7 years in AI/ML solution implementation and expertise in Python, R, PySpark, and SQL. Experience with MLOps, Data Engineering, software engineering, or related fields for over 5 years is desired, alongside in-depth knowledge in Azure technologies, GitHub Actions, Terraform, etc.

A Bachelor’s or higher in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or related field is preferred along with a passion for AI/ML innovation and collaborative teamwork.
