About the Opportunity
We are seeking a Principal Data Engineer to work from our locations in Princeton, NJ, Chicago, IL, Plano, TX, or Minneapolis, MN. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional product teams to design, develop, and deploy advanced data engineering techniques. Your work will extract valuable insights from large and complex medical datasets, both structured and unstructured.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and contribute to major data engineering initiatives from inception to delivery.
- Analyze data to identify trends and extract insights.
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to define data requirements.
- Design and implement data models supporting various product use cases.
- Develop and maintain scalable data architectures.
- Recommend appropriate data storage solutions to ensure data accessibility and integrity.
- Optimize data ingestion processes for improved reliability and performance.
- Establish monitoring and alerting systems for data pipeline management.
- Support data infrastructure needs like cluster management and permissions.
- Create and deliver educational documentation on data best practices.
- Communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Required Education and Experience
To be considered for this role, you will need:
- A Master’s Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or related field
- 10 years of experience in data engineering with a focus on data architecture and data ingestion
- Experience in the Life Science Industry
- Strong understanding of data modeling and analytics concepts
- Proven experience with data pipeline and platform development
- Proficiency in data integration, ETL tools, and data engineering programming languages (Python, Scala, SQL)
- Experience with Data Ops in Cloud Computing environments (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Knowledge of data streaming technologies like Kafka and Debezium
- Expertise with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI)
- Strong understanding of data security principles
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with healthcare domain data, including Electronic Health Records (EHR)
- Proficiency with building domain ontologies
- Knowledge of data governance and compliance policies
