Position Summary

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will:

  • Support the creation and operation of Big Data AI/machine learning solutions, leveraging complex healthcare data for actionable insights.
  • Lead and participate in designing, building, managing large-scale data structures and pipelines, including efficient ETL workflows.
  • Use strong data analysis skills to profile and validate source datasets, recommending effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with the data science team to define and build datasets for analytic model training.
  • Utilize your data management expertise to design large-scale data structures that support efficient consumption of analytic results.
  • Employ strong programming skills in Python, Java, or other major languages to develop efficient ETL processes for data collection, standardization, and insight generation.
  • Develop software for delivering both batch and real-time analytics.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of relevant work experience in Data Engineering/ETL Development
  • 3+ years of SQL experience with large datasets
  • 3+ years' experience with Spark, Python, or Java to build robust data pipelines
  • 2+ years leveraging Cloud Technologies (preferably GCP, but AWS or Azure considered) for ETL and data analysis
  • 3+ years of progressively complex related experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong SQL and data analysis experience, including data exploration, profiling, and validation
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills both within and across teams
  • Knowledge of Hadoop architecture and experience with HDFS commands, designing, and optimizing queries to build data pipelines
  • Experience in working with healthcare or health insurance data
  • Understanding of data science methodologies and statistics
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) tools like BigQuery, Cloud Composer, Dataproc, and Dataflow; AWS or Azure experience also considered
  • Experience building APIs in Python and working knowledge of orchestration tools, such as Apache Airflow
  • Ability to understand complex systems and solve challenging analytical problems
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and critical thinking ability

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Machine Learning, or a related discipline
  • Master’s degree or PhD preferred

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is: $106,605.00 - $206,000.00. This range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for positions within this job grade. The actual base salary offer will depend on various factors including experience, education, geography, and other relevant factors.

This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission, or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
