The Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Sciences (DS) team at Locus Robotics specializes in the integration of sophisticated software technologies and advancements across various AI and DS disciplines such as Deep Learning & Deep Reinforcement Learning, Advanced Analytics, Generative AI, Decision Sciences, Operations Research, IoT/Simulation, Computational Perception, AI-based Goal Planning, and Cloud-based software to provide innovative, enabling, and revolutionary solutions for diverse facets of autonomous robotic and autonomous robot fleet operations.

The Senior Director role acts as a dynamic, hands-on, innovation oriented leader in applying these technologies to the intriguing realm of autonomous robots and their applications, particularly within the sphere of intralogistics and industrial automation.

Job Responsibilities:

This leader will collaborate with internal teams and external customers to:

  • Provide leadership and/or expertise in developing various analytics related products (descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics), playing a crucial role in generating revenue from these products.
  • Design and lead full-scale projects with the aim of swift market introduction, utilizing agile methodologies.
  • Employ modern AI and machine learning methodologies to solve complex issues involving the creation of solutions capable of measurably streamlining AMR operations.
  • Develop innovative perception-based solutions, leveraging advancements in sensor technology and sensor fusion algorithms, and harnessing the power of AI and IoT at the edge and in the cloud that can evidently increase the efficiency and effectiveness of highly autonomous robotic fleets.
  • Contribute to the application of deep learning and deep reinforcement learning in mobile robotic navigation, control & planning, and optimization algorithms, particularly applying Adaptive and Reinforcement Learning.
  • Utilize progress in Generative AI, including LLMs, to improve the operations of autonomous robots.
  • Assemble a skilled AI/ML, Big Data, Analytics, and computational perception organization propagating a culture of innovation and commercial acumen within the team's operation.
  • Collaborate with the DevOps team to establish a cutting-edge practice that supports both innovation and customer deployment activities.

Qualifications

  • Master's or PhD degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or Statistics, preferably with a focus on Machine Learning and AI.
  • 10+ years of experience in developing engineering/software solutions.
  • Experience in leading teams and delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • 8+ years of experience in formulating solutions in the fields of Analytics, AI/ML, or computational perception.
  • 5+ years of experience leading AI/ML teams, with demonstrated experience in maintaining AI/ML products in production.
  • Expertise in applying Data Sciences, and/or AI-based computer vision, and/or Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) & Deep Learning methodologies to an array of commercial applications such as classification problems, prediction problems, sensor fusion and perception projects, optimization projects, navigation, and control algorithms and problems.
  • Awareness of Generative AI paradigm and LLM approaches.
  • Sound knowledge of Agile methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to program in one or more high level languages (e.g., C++, Python, Java, C#) with widely used AI/ML SDKs.
  • Experience in Cloud and Edge AI software development.
  • Experience in identifying and collaborating with key partners in the field.
  • Experience in managing the operation of customer-serving DS/AI products in production environments.
  • Familiarity with best practices for MLOps.
