What you will do: Ancestry is seeking an exceptional, fervent, and highly motivated AI Computer Vision Intern to join our Handwriting Recognition (HWR) team this summer. The HWR team handles the majority of the image content used to enrich family trees and generate notifications. As an intern on the HWR team, your role will involve building new vision and NLP pipelines for processing numerous content images, creating, training, and fine-tuning models for record extraction from handwritten images, designing and implementing complex end-to-end model pipelines, working closely with engineering teams on training, optimizing, and deploying models, and collaborating with Data Science Engineers on deploying datasets, truth sets, models, pipelines, training and inference code to the cloud. You will also be responsible for effectively communicating and presenting deliverables and solutions to the team, stakeholders, and executive leadership. Who You Are: Desired candidates should have an advanced degree (MS/PhD) in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or any relevant data-driven field, specialize in computer vision, deep learning and machine learning, have strong proficiency in Python, LLMs, CV, NLP, and other libraries, familiarity with deep learning frameworks like Pytorch, Hugging Face, OpenAI, TensorFlow, SpaCy, SciPy stack, etc, have proven experience in applied research and real-world application of published models, and have significant software development experience. Internship Program Details: Eligible candidates are students enrolled in an accredited U.S. educational institution set to graduate after August 2024. The summer 2024 program spans from May 13 to September 6, interns must have graduated in order to qualify. Temporary housing and travel are fully paid for by the company. All internships will be based in Lehi, Utah, with a flexible work arrangement that allows for both office-based and remote work. Interns will have opportunities to network with other interns and industry professionals, participate in engaging events, work a full-time schedule, and be equipped with company-issued laptops and equipment for the internship duration.
