Role Overview: AI/ML Data Engineer
We are seeking a passionate Data Engineer to develop and support AI applications and foundational algorithms. As a collaborative and action-oriented leader, you will exceed expectations, develop teammates, assess performance, and plan proactively, all while maintaining integrity. **This position can be based at any Collins domestic location or remote.**
Key Responsibilities
- Design, evaluate, deploy, and maintain AI/ML models, data pipelines, and solutions.
- Lead the development of AI applications and foundational models and algorithms, including vision, speech, gesture, touch, robotics, and advanced search technologies.
- Build and deploy data pipelines focusing on data ingestion, integration, modeling, optimization, and quality for AI processing.
- Provide production support for existing and future models, data pipelines, and solutions.
- Work in an environment focused on rapid, yet thorough, product delivery from specifications and instructions.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand program needs and challenges; support the team to deploy appropriate solutions.
- Participate in code reviews, raise technical risks, and ensure documentation meets applicable requirements.
- Lead initiatives to improve company AI literacy, including training, education, and knowledge sharing of AI products, services, tools, stakeholders, and processes.

Required Qualifications
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder.
- Typically requires a University Degree and a minimum of 8 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field with a minimum of 5 years of experience, or in the absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience.
- Willing and able to travel 5% of the time.
- Technical education and experience in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science.
- Experience programming in Python.
Desired Skills
- Experience with AI research, theory, and innovation.
- Familiarity with development tools and environments such as AWS, Linux, Ubuntu, Bash, Conda, pip, VS Code, Spyder, Git + Github, GPUs, REST APIs.
- Experience with Python libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, TensorFlow, Unstructured.io, LangChain, Haystack, SQLAlchemy).
- Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, DynamoDB).
- Understanding of the software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes (CI/CD), testing, and delivery.
- Experience developing and training models for Computer Vision, Conversational AI, Natural Language Processing, Decision Support, Ranking/Recommendations, Speech, and Audio.
