Associate Data Scientist

Niantic is a leading mobile gaming platform company, renowned for creating popular augmented reality (AR) games like Pokémon GO, Ingress, Pikmin Bloom, and Monster Hunter Now. Niantic is in search of a diligent Data Scientist to join our team. As an Associate Data Scientist, you'll play an essential role in supporting the development and expansion of the game Pikmin Bloom. Your responsibility will include analyzing and interpreting large datasets to provide valuable insights and recommendations to enhance the game's performance and the user experience. Proficiency in English and experience in business intelligence are crucial for effective communication and data-driven decision making. Familiarity with Looker is a considerable advantage.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret complex datasets to recognize patterns, trends, and opportunities for improving Pikmin Bloom's gameplay, engagement, and monetization.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including game designers, product managers, and engineers, to define and prioritize data-driven goals and strategies.
• Generate and present regular reports, dashboards, and visualizations to communicate insights and recommendations to stakeholders.
• Design and maintain data models, algorithms, and statistical models to support predictive analytics and forecasting.
• Cooperate with the game engineering team to ensure data quality, integrity, and availability for analysis.
• Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in data science and business intelligence.
• Team up with cross-functional team members and stakeholders, ensuring regular and reliable attendance and participation in meetings.
• Required to be in the office 3 days, specifically on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative field (for instance, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or related disciplines).
• Strong proficiency in English, both in writing and speaking, to effectively communicate with international teams.
• Solid understanding of business intelligence concepts, methodologies, and best practices. Familiarity with Looker or similar business intelligence platforms is a plus.
• Demonstrated experience in data analysis, statistical modeling, and data visualization using tools like Python, R, SQL, or similar.
• The capability to translate complex data findings into actionable insights and recommendations.
• Affection for gaming and familiarity with Pikmin Bloom or other Niantic games are highly desirable.
• The ability to work in a fast-paced hybrid environment, manage stress appropriately, resolve practical problems, and show sufficient adaptability to handle dynamic situations with little advance notice.
• Experience working in cross-functional teams with the capacity to communicate effectively through written and verbal communications, including real-time interactions with others.
