Job Summary

The Azure Data Architect is a key contributor in designing, developing, and operationalizing the firm’s data strategy, transforming data into a powerful tool that drives initiatives in innovation, operational efficiency, and legal service delivery. This role engages stakeholders across the firm to understand their data requirements, utilizing various Azure data services and frameworks to store and produce cleansed and enhanced datasets for analysis. As an Azure Data Architect, you also help to ensure that the operationalization of data pipelines and data stores are high-performing, efficient, organized, and reliable, given a set of business requirements and constraints. You help to identify and troubleshoot operational and data quality issues. You also design, implement, monitor, and optimize data platforms to meet the data pipelines.

Job Responsibilities

  • Identifying opportunities to leverage data to enhance our business operations and delivery of legal services.
  • Supporting all the phases of Analytical Development from identification of key business questions, through data collection and ETL.
  • Engaging with business stakeholders across the firm to understand departmental and practice group data strategies, approaches and requirements.
  • Developing strategies and design patterns to solve complex technical and data challenges.
  • Designing and implementing data security and access controls.
  • Owning strategy around the data warehouse in terms of system monitoring, capacity planning, disaster recovery, and architecture.
  • Leading the design, build, and continuous optimization of data architecture leveraging Azure data solutions.
  • Building and maintaining robust data pipelines.
  • Designing and implementing data models for analytics and reporting purposes.
  • Leading data architecture review sessions and providing recommendations to the team on architecture work.
  • Optimizing data infrastructure and implementing best practices for scalability, performance, and reliability.
  • Ensuring data quality and accuracy by implementing data governance processes and tools, such as data validation rules and automated data cleaning processes.

Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and with others in a cooperative, enthusiastic and friendly manner to accomplish position functions and lead team efforts.
  • Experience in designing and architecting end to end analytics solutions in Azure Synapse.
  • Experience in designing and orchestrating data pipelines to load data efficiently in Synapse dedicated SQL Pool.
  • Experience in Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, Azure data flow, Azure functions and Databricks.
  • Hands-on experience solutioning and implementing analytical capabilities using the Azure Data Analytics platform.
  • Strong knowledge of data modeling and data design.
  • Experience with Git and version control systems as well as CI/CD process with Azure DevOps.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret information from a variety of sources, apply critical and creative thinking to draw conclusions or develop solutions to complex problems.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and with others in a cooperative, enthusiastic and friendly manner to accomplish position functions and lead team efforts.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing throughout the organization, including management, members of the partnership, and senior leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work in a dynamic and complex environment to meet deadlines.
  • Must be detail oriented and logical, demonstrates significant initiative and self-motivation.

Education

  • This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field. Equivalent training and experience may substitute for education.

Experience

  • The position requires a minimum of five (5) years of increasing responsibilities; directly related experience during which knowledge, skills and abilities applicable to the position were demonstrated.
  • Experience designing and implementing data warehouse solutions in an Azure environment.
  • Expertise and hands-on experience with at least the following Azure Platform tools: Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Data Lake Storage, Databricks, Stream Analytics, and Event Hubs.
  • Strong knowledge of the Kimball dimensional data modeling architecture.
  • Deep knowledge of SQL and NoSql (like MongoDB) databases.
  • Experience working with structured, semi-structured and unstructured datasets.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub or related version control platforms.
