Job Description: Data Scientist in the Merchandise Business Unit
We are seeking a talented Data Scientist to join our Merchandise Business Unit at zooplus. Your mission will be to generate insights that guide decision-making on an international scale. Leveraging descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analysis methods, you'll unlock vast business opportunities and translate them into actionable goals.
Expect to take on various exciting projects that align with your passions and strengths. You'll work closely with stakeholders such as Product Management, Marketing, Markets, Management, and IT. Exceptional communication skills, particularly with non-technical colleagues, are a highly sought asset.
Key Responsibilities
As a Data Scientist, you will:
- Develop custom analytics models to produce insights that drive customer value and provide a competitive edge, focusing on white box models.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate complex retail business problems into the Data Science Domain, selecting the best techniques for structured & unstructured data.
- Advise stakeholders on interpreting insights using dashboards, leading to impactful business decisions.
- Perform exploratory analysis including hypothesis testing, statistical inference, and predictive and/or prescriptive statistical analysis, including ad-hoc analysis.
Qualifications
Our ideal candidate will have:
- Strong analytical skills.
- A university degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, or a related field.
- Over three years of professional experience in Data Science and Statistics.
- Experience managing datasets that do not fit in memory.
- Initial experience with White Box and Bayesian Models.
- Proficiency in Python or a similar scripting language for statistical modeling.
- Advanced knowledge of SQL.
- Experience with Tableau and/or PowerBI.
- Familiarity with standard open-source statistical packages ranging from numpy and sklearn to pytorch.
- A team-player mindset ready to work in a dynamic startup environment.
- Fluency in English (both spoken and written).
