Role Overview: AI Design Researcher at Microsoft

As an AI Design Researcher, you will be an integral part of the Teachable AI experiences team, known for its significant contributions to responsible and accessible artificial intelligence. This position provides the chance to engage in groundbreaking research at the intersection of AI and human-computer interaction alongside a diverse, multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Facilitating impactful communication across various research disciplines through workshops and collaborative sessions.
  • Conceptualizing and developing innovative AI experiences.
  • Prototyping, iterating, and testing AI solutions to refine their effectiveness and inclusivity.
  • Direct engagement with users to design inclusive AI frameworks.
  • Creating materials and showables that aid in innovation and outreach to external audiences.

What We're Looking For

Responsibilities:

  • Planning and executing support activities to foster interaction and ideation across a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proposing creative solutions and creating wireframes, journey maps, personas, and scenarios to enhance user experience journeys.
  • Conducting qualitative user research, including user studies, workshops, focus groups, and usability tests.
  • Developing presentation materials to streamline the team's innovation processes and enhance external communication.

Qualifications:

  • Required: Master’s or PhD in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.
  • Proven ability to lead ideation and collaborative efforts within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong communication skills paired with robust visual and/or auditory design capabilities.
  • Adept at synthesizing research findings into actionable designs and strategies.
  • Desired: Prior experience designing AI system interfaces and engaging with marginalized communities.
