Job Description

Position Summary:

Principal BIM Designer - Electrical, a senior member of the drafting team, will be expected to interact with project managers, engineers and other technicians to deliver technical engineering drawings for projects of varying complexity. In addition to engineering tasks, the Senior BIM Modeller is also expected to support HoDs in the competence development of the drafting team within the department. Principal technicians will be critical drivers for the technical quality of the work and compliance with project objectives and quality standards.

Responsibilities:

• Mentor - Offers guidance and knowledge to junior members and works towards enhancing the competence of other technicians within the team.
• Will coordinate with project managers and/or engineers for drafting work in a given project.
• Is accountable for the technical accuracy and timely delivery of the drawings and documents in his projects.
• Understanding of all operational aspects and up-to-date knowledge on the latest technological advancements, industry regulations/guidelines and statutory compliances.
• Effective resource planning/optimization with a focus on waste reduction, enhancing productivity and profitability; the ability to use sound decision-making skills to effectively perform in a self-directed environment.
• Possessing valuable insights, keen analysis team approach to implement best practices, adept at working in high-pressure environments with strict deadlines and multiple deliverables.
• Technical expertise in Revit MEP (BIM software), AutoCAD MEP, Naviswork, AutoCAD and familiarity with BIM/CAD Standards, ASHRAE, ISHRAE, ACAD – (2004 to 2012), Navisworks and Revit MEP 2009 to 2023.3D,4D Drawings.
• BIM MODELING, Coordination, and Preparation BOQ.
• Will assist the project team in developing/implementing drafting standards.
• Would assist in even distribution of work within the drafting team.
• Will assist in improving the efficiency and productivity of the drafting team.
• Communicates the training and development needs to his supervisor.
• Exercises self-discipline and work ethics.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Qualifications:-

• Diploma in Electrical Engineering or ITI Trained Professional with a minimum of 5 to 10 years of professional experience ideally having worked on significant Middle East, UK projects.
• Strong knowledge of Revit is essential.
• Core Knowledge of Electrical & ELV.
• Understanding of 3D modeling tools such as Revit and Navisworks would be desirable.
• Knowledge of 3D modeling of all services Electrical.
• Knowledge of 3D modeling of Mechanical, plumbing will be an addon.
• Experience in preparing general arrangement drawings, experience in all stages of drawings such as Concept, Schematic, Detail design, and GFC.
• A robust understanding of Building Services design and experience of services full coordination.
• Must have knowledge of BIM/CAD standards and aware of Engineering terminology.
• Must have experience on international projects.
• Self-motivated, team player, and able to work independently with minimum supervision.
• Flexible attitude, in an environment with frequently changing deadlines can be relied on to meet deadlines.
• Committed to both their work and personal development, with a willingness to broaden their experience, including knowledge base and leadership skills.
• Knowledge of Microsoft applications.

Good level of written and spoken English.
