Job Description Summary

As a Cloud Database Engineer, you will perform essential database engineering and administration tasks such as designing, planning, configuring, monitoring, automating, and managing self-serviceability, alerting, space management, database backup, and recovery. This role involves planning computerized databases, defining their structure and documentation, and ensuring long-term operational guidelines and protection. You will also lead and advise on migration and modernization, executing workload migrations to Cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, and GCP.

Responsibilities

• Create, maintain, and utilize Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for migration execution, ensuring long-term technical viability and optimization of production deployments and administration.
• Engage with customers, consult, and deliver solutions to streamline project deliverables and scope of work.
• Forecast future database growth for capacity planning based on usage trends and ensure scalability and optimal performance by planning hardware and storage requirements.
• Develop, manage, and deploy effective high availability and disaster recovery strategies/runbooks.
• Plan and execute database software upgrades, patches, and service packs for patch management and upgrades.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex database-related issues, including data corruption, performance problems, and connectivity challenges.
• Contribute to automation scripts and tools to streamline repetitive tasks, improve efficiency, and minimize human errors.
• Set up monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify and address potential database issues before they become critical.
• Generate performance analysis reports for stakeholders and management, providing insights into the database environment's health and performance.
• Maintain up-to-date documentation of database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
• Resolve incidents, changes, and service requests under agreed client SLA through efficient ticket handling.
• Resolve problem tickets by creating detailed Root Cause Analysis (RCA) reports for problem management.
• Evaluate and manage third-party tools and solutions that assist in database management, monitoring, and performance tuning.
• Participate in 24/7 production support for Database Operations.
• Have hands-on experience with cloud technology tools such as AWS DMS, SMS, App Migration Service, Migration Hub, Azure Migrate, Data Migration Service, SQL Server DMA, Azure ASR, and AWS DRS.
• Perform migrations from SQL Server to/from other RDBMS platforms for PaaS models like AWS Aurora, AWS RDS, Azure Database, Azure Managed Instance, and GCP Cloud SQL.
• Understand cloud basics and perform duties like security management, storage management, backup vaults, key vaults, server/DB monitoring, and cost optimization.
